Denise 14th April 2021

To Marcia , Katie's family, friends, colleagues at Coram, the legal profession, the family justice system and her former clients. Also to all that knew her and were touched by her warmth and her unique spirit. I was and continue to be so sad by Katie's passing. I first met Katie on the Law Society's Children Sub Committee when she was a solicitor. She made an invaluable contribution to the policy work of that committee the work of the Law Society and thus the legal profession. She also contributed to the 2nd edition of the Law Society's Guide to Good Practice when I was the committee's chair and co general editor of that work and is credited for her assistance and contribution. She was a fighter for her clients. She got on so with children and teenagers. She was witty had a great sense of humour and would always go the extra mile. I continued to know her and instruct her when she crossed over to the bar and became a barrister. She was so well respected by all and she was so well liked on a personal level. I last saw her with Marcia by chance last summer in Hackney and she was her usual warm, witty self. I am so sad at her passing. Katie's unique spirit will be so missed. There is and there will be no one else like her. I thank her for all that she did in my work world and beyond. It was a privilege to have worked and known her. May her dear soul RIP. My condolences to all . In sadness Denise Lester ( McCormacks Law )
